18 May Service Trip 2026 – Day 4: Camden
For our last full day in Arkansas, our volunteers wrapped up an incredible day of projects at the Ouachita County Animal Protection Society in Camden, about two hours south of Little Rock. All day, our team worked side by side with our southern partners to tackle improvements that will make a lasting impact for both the shelter staff and the dogs in their care.
Today’s projects included spreading gravel to improve the shelter grounds, installing new kennel doors, assembling a new play yard, landscaping and grounds cleanup, and of course, plenty of kennel cleaning, bathing, and hands-on dog care.
One of the biggest accomplishments of the day was the major improvement to the shelter’s drainage situation. Thanks to the incredible support of the
Camden community, volunteers had access to heavy machinery and a backhoe that helped move gravel quickly and efficiently. What would have taken hours by hand was completed in just minutes, allowing the team to dramatically improve areas that frequently flood during heavy rain.
While the physical work is exhausting, seeing the transformation happen in real time reminds us exactly why these trips matter. Every improved kennel, every cleaned play area, and every dog receiving care today represents hope for a brighter future.
We are beyond thrilled to share that we officially reached our fundraising goal for this year’s service trip! Thank you to every single person who donated, shared our posts, supported our volunteers, and believed in this mission. Your generosity is already making a direct impact in the shelters we visit. Any additional funds raised from this point forward will help us contract and complete even more projects that we did not have enough time to finish during our week on the ground. From shelter repairs to infrastructure improvements, your continued support ensures this work can keep going long after our volunteers head home.
