LHK9 receives an average of 140+ applications per week and we always need more application processors to keep up with this huge volume. The process includes reviewing the application for completion, identifying red flags and completing reference checks. We check two personal references for each applicant, as well as a veterinary reference if the applicant currently has an animal or has had one in the past 5 years, and a landlord reference for any applicant who rents their home. This is a really flexible way to get involved – you can volunteer to process as little or as many applications as you have time for and it can be done from just about anywhere.
Our application approval process includes a home visit, which is conducted by our home visit volunteers. We provide volunteers with a home visit form that includes a list of questions and topic areas to cover with the applicant during the home visit. Home visit volunteers are needed in every area we adopt to – MA, NH, VT, CT, and RI. This is an integral part of our application process and we rely our home visit volunteers to serve as faces of LHK9.
We always need help getting dogs from one place to another. From quarantine to vet appointments to adoption events – there are lots of places that dogs in our care might need to be and their foster families aren’t always available. This is a great way to spend time with some of our dogs if you aren’t available to foster.
In addition to general volunteer opportunities, we also have over 200 specific roles in which humans take on the day to day responsibilities which all go into finding each of our pups their furever home. Check out our job board and apply for specific roles by clicking here.
